What is Kinesiology?

Modern life places a significant demand on the body. Ongoing stress, environmental exposure, and nutritional challenges can all contribute to the body becoming overloaded or out of balance over time. One example is the changing nutritional quality of the food we eat, which can make it harder for the body to get what it needs to function optimally (you can read more about this here).

Systematic Kinesiology is a gentle, holistic approach that uses muscle testing to help identify areas of imbalance within the body. Rather than suppressing symptoms, kinesiology works by listening to what the body is communicating and exploring why those symptoms may be present.

Symptoms are not viewed as something to fight against, but as signals — useful information that helps guide the process of restoring balance at a deeper level.

What makes Kinesiology different?

One of the key differences in Systematic Kinesiology is the use of gentle muscle testing as a form of direct feedback from the body.

Muscle testing involves the practitioner applying light pressure to specific muscles to assess how the body responds. Many people notice a clear physical difference: when a muscle is balanced, it feels firm and stable; when it is under stress or out of balance, the response can feel softer or less supported. This makes the process tangible rather than abstract — you can often feel the body responding in real time.

When an imbalance is identified, appropriate techniques are used to support the body back towards balance. The muscle is then rechecked, and many people notice a distinct change in how it responds, helping to build trust in the process and confidence that the body is engaging with the work.

What can I expect from a session?

Sessions are calm, supportive, and guided by what you would like help with. We begin with a gentle conversation to understand your current concerns and what feels most relevant for you.

From there, muscle testing is used to explore areas the body prioritises. This may include muscles, organs, systems, or nutritional factors, depending on what is relevant for you at the time. The process is always body-led rather than imposed.

Sessions may also involve lymphatic techniques to support circulation and drainage, as well as work with meridian channels to help balance energy flow throughout the body.

Most people find sessions relaxing. Some lymphatic techniques can feel temporarily uncomfortable if an area is congested, but communication is always maintained and everything stays well within your comfort level. You remain fully clothed and in control throughout the session.

I am based in Falmouth, Cornwall, and also spend time in North London on a monthly basis, allowing sessions to be offered in both locations.

Digestive & Gut Support

Digestive and gut-related concerns are one of the most common reasons people seek kinesiology support. This can include bloating, discomfort, irregular digestion, food sensitivities, or a general sense that the gut isn’t functioning as it should — often following periods of stress, illness, or dietary disruption.

In Systematic Kinesiology, the focus is not on treating a diagnosis, but on exploring underlying stressors that may be influencing digestive function. This can include factors such as nervous system load, immune stress, nutritional imbalances, or organ-related stress patterns. Sessions are guided by the body’s own feedback, allowing priorities to emerge naturally rather than being imposed.

Because digestion is closely linked to the nervous system, many people find gut-focused work easier to notice and track than more abstract concerns. Changes may be experienced through shifts in bowel regularity, reduced discomfort, improved tolerance to foods, or a greater sense of ease in digestion. Responses vary between individuals, but the gut is often an area where changes feel more tangible and measurable.
