Darren’s Story

The journey towards feeling well is rarely straightforward or linear. My own experience of this is what led me to the work I do today, and why I’m passionate about supporting others to feel more at ease, balanced, and connected in their bodies.

‘Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.’ - Kofi Annan.

How I was introduced to Kinesiology

In my twenties, I experienced a long-standing gut issue that persisted for several years. Like many people, I initially sought medical support and was prescribed long-term medication. While this helped manage the symptoms, it also came with side effects, and over time I felt increasingly disconnected from my own sense of wellbeing.

Feeling frustrated and unsure of the next step, I began looking for a more holistic approach — one that would help me understand why my body was struggling, rather than simply managing the symptoms. This search eventually led me to Systematic Kinesiology.

Within a few months of starting kinesiology sessions, I noticed significant and lasting changes in my gut health and overall wellbeing. I was able to step away from the medication, and the issues that had been troubling me for years did not return. This experience was a turning point and sparked a deep curiosity about how the body communicates and restores balance.

Why I decided to become a practitioner

My passion has always been health and wellbeing, but discovering kinesiology changed how I understood the body entirely. Experiencing its impact firsthand inspired me to train and eventually qualify as a practitioner, so I could support others in the same way.

What draws me to this work is its individual, body-led nature. Each session is guided by what the body prioritises, rather than a fixed protocol, and that feels both respectful and empowering. I feel grateful to have found a practice that I genuinely believe in, and that has the potential to create meaningful change for others.

A little about me

I live in Falmouth, Cornwall, just a few minutes from the beach, with my partner and our young child. Alongside my kinesiology practice, I also work remotely as Chief Client Officer for a regulated investment management company.

Outside of work, I enjoy health and fitness, spending time outdoors, and reading — particularly books focused on personal development, wellbeing, and psychology, alongside fiction.

Qualification

I am a fully qualified Systematic Kinesiology Practitioner, trained with TASK-UK (The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology).
